The participative leader is more like a facilitator, characterized by fairness, competence, creativity, courage, intelligence, and honesty.
Participative or democratic leaders give importance to the opinion of the team members and engage them in the decision-making process. While the final decision ultimately rests on the leader, the factors influencing that decision come from the collective team. Employees feel valued when their opinions are considered, i.e. for procedures, strategy, or goal setting, and therefore they are more engaged and more productive.
This leadership style focuses on adapting their leadership based on the needs of the team,, and supporting them as and how they require. They are great in roles for group therapy and team coaching.
