Tolerance can be associated with “putting up with” a specific behaviour or person, or the ability to deal with hardship in life, the endurance of pain or a tough time can require a great deal of tolerance.
Tolerance within the workplace, however, encompasses much more. It includes openness, sharing of ideas and information, or demonstrating a willingness to let everyone have their say, listening to every perspective can illustrate tolerance. Understanding and accepting different ideals, beliefs, and cultures is the definition of tolerance, and vital in an increasingly global workforce and a diverse workplace.
Being tolerant of others is also an indication of caring about others. Allowing others their individuality, and diversity of thought and character is evidence of tolerance. It exhibits a morality that shows respect for individuals, reducing conflict of beliefs, values and ideas, so everyone can coexist peacefully.
